The author of my essay is Bradford Plumer.  He is a reporter and assisstant editor of the New Republic journal.  He is 25 and lives in D.C.  I am sending him an E-mail to see if he offers any credentials or political views.  The New Republic is a journal published twice a month that offers articles and reviews on American politics and the arts.  The journal is usually known to support liberal, center-left wing policies.  The support tends to be more liberal on social issues than on fiscal issues.  Funding comes from the sale of the journal and random donations.  It his some 14 main editors and other assisstant editors like Plumer.

As for Plumer’s article, it was most likely aroused by the recent steady increase in the price of oil barrels.  Most energy scientists believe that the U.S. can adopt new energy techniques in the future in most situations.  The airline business is the one exception.  Plumer obvious was looking into the future writing this piece, and felt compelled to “warn” Americans of the possible consequences.  The responses to the piece are quite varied.  One person largely disagreed and proposed that the article might have even been satire.  Others agreed with the proposed future and hold an attitude of “I told you so…”.  Still, other responders say that the author even had many facts wrong, such as word spellings and scientific facts.  Those responses definitely challenge the credibility of the author.
